Trade Tech services
Upgrades, compliance and integrity services
Trade Tech’s services related to upgrades, compliance and integrity issues are set up to offer services related to system and equipment assurance, including documentation compliance with prevailing regulations and standards.
This mainly applies to the compliance of foreign-supplied equipment with Norwegian regulations and standards, and in situations where new revisions of regulations and standards are released and require the compliance of existing equipment. We also provide upgrades and modifications with the aim of optimising performance, as well as the adaptive preparation of systems and equipment for use under changing conditions.
We believe that these services are important to our customers and that they help to establish Trade Tech in line with our Number One vision and as a one-stop-shop for our customers in the energy and oil and gas sectors.
The most important objectives of our service provision are to enhance safety, minimise environmental footprint and reduce the risk of system shutdowns, thus maximising uptime on rigs, vessels and installations.
Our staff are skilled, flexible, solution-oriented and customer-focused, and represent a key success factor in terms of our service provision and meeting our objectives.
Upgrades and modifications
Trade Tech’s provision of services linked to upgrades and modifications is typically based either on customer specifications, or on the result of a documented inspection of a system or equipment carried out by Trade Tech, and is carried out in close consultation with the customer. In order to ensure compliance, upgrades and modifications are always verified against current regulations and standards, and are consequently documented by a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). If it becomes necessary in order to ensure compatibility with existing interfacing equipment, we usually reverse engineer relevant components for this purpose. If relevant, FMECA and/or HAZOP studies are carried out in order to identify needs that have to be addressed. If ATEX- or IECEx-certified products are involved, recertification is included as part of the upgrade/modification.
ATEX compliance verification
Trade Tech offers ATEX compliance verification in order to ensure that a customer’s equipment meets the relevant requirements for use as stipulated in the relevant ATEX directive. A successful verification is documented by a Certificate of Conformance (CoC), referring to the relevant part of the directive. Non-conformances will be reported to the customer with recommendations on how to achieve compliance.
NORSOK compliance verification
Trade Tech offers NORSOK compliance verification in order to ensure that a customer’s equipment and documentation meet the relevant requirements as stipulated in the relevant NORSOK standard(s). A successful verification is documented by a Certificate of Conformance (CoC), referring to the relevant standard(s). Non-conformances will be reported to the customer with recommendations on how to achieve compliance.
Documentation updates
Trade Tech offers documentation updates that can be combined with our own digital documentation library service (see the Operational Support Services page for details about the digital documentation library). The requirement for an electronic documentation update may arise due to red-line mark-ups, or a failure of documentation either to meet either a current NORSOK standard or to achieve suitability for system/equipment operation or maintenance.
